some good, some bad

thumbs down - the latest iphone update wiped out all of my music, apps, contacts and a years worth of pictures. and i seem to have picked up some latent cold bug and woke up without a voice feeling all sore and achy. the pits!

thumbs up - made a quick trip to beverleys craft store and stocked up on over $50 worth of projects (needtostopspendingallmymoneyondiy). caught up with a few of my faves over facetime. went on a 'mystery farewell outing' with some old and new friends that turned out to be a surprisingly awesome evening of ultra bowling. and i won?!?!

i am in serious need of an itunes makeover. a full on tai-becomes-mean-and-popular style makeover. i can't even remember the last time i opened itunes! (do people still use itunes??) as in i haven't added annnyyyyy new music since i downloaded bought that 2007 beirut album. oy. i think we can all appreciate keeping a few classics on deck like aqua or chumbawamba, but there comes a time when we need to look past the old and embrace the next generation of 2 chainz and carly rae jepsens of the world.

lately, i've taken up with spotify, pandora and npr (obsessed with their app), leaving my hard won 20,000+ itunes library behind. but when it comes down to it, i miss the permanence of owning a music collection, displaying my mostly embarrassing collection of cds from middle school, giving friends my latest mixed tape recorded off the radio

and so i give you my wednesday mix tape of the modern age. to perk up your hump day.

i've been hitting the food truck scene pretty hard lately. i'm still looking for the elusive curry up now truck (chicken tikka masala burrito?? yes please!) and koja kitchen truck of kamikaze fries fame. but in the meantime, ive been sampling some sangrias, moroccan meatballs, fries, and desserts from the 8 million other trucks on my list. slowly working my way through all the (non seafood) trucks around

to shake things up, i decided to check out a few non-mobile spots this weekend. big fan of the mill serving almond milk for us lactards and the on-the-verge-of-being-too-spicy-but-just-mild-enough sauce at green chili kitchen.

i've decided to embrace ystävänpäivä, or 'friends day' this year. i really like the finnish concept of honoring and appreciating the range of relationships in your life - platonic and romantic, past and present. sharing a little ditty i wrote for class this week, to the many special someones in my life

 i spent the evening the best way i know how, in good company. lots to love on this year.

cooking up a storm over here. non trader joes meals. as in from scratch. (taking a moment to let that sink in) i was doing some blog roaming and came across a few simple recipes for vegan beet burgers (a bit crumbly, but otherwise BOMB) and energy bites (my new obsession). yurm

im learning to knit!

its been getting real crafty up in here. lots of hoarding used mason jars, sifting through thrift stores and list making going on

i'm just shy of my 5 month sf anniversary. bahhh! for the most part, i don't feel like i'm visiting the city anymore (though the feeling does still creep up on me every so often). but i don't quite feel like the city is MINE yet. i was born and raised here, so by default sf is mine. but not in the way dc was - i had to work to make dc my home, build my life all on my own. i guess part of me misses that sense of adventure, unknown, struggle? now there are new struggles, rediscoveries and plenty of unknowns. so goodbye city of my angsty teen years, hellllloooo still 'figuring it out' city of my twenty somethings!
