four words: bottomless mimosas buffet brunch. we spent no less than four hours on that patio, eating waffles & biscuits, laughing, and sipping on oj & champagne.

another major list cross off. by some stroke of luck/cosmic miracle, all 5 of our schedules aligned to grab brunch. in the same place. at the same time. ALL of us. we opted for the much anticipated brunch at montmartre of the Top-Ten-Must-Do-List-Items list. everything was tres delicieux, from the french speaking wait staff to my out of control delicious sandwich to finally finding time to all sit down together and catch up. post eating, we wandered around eastern market where i snagged some $6 aviators, ogled some overpriced but ahhmazing looking furniture and tried to convince allie to buy a fedora. naturally, no afternoon jaunt is complete without a caffeinated soy beverage (courtesy of peregrin) and some dessert (sweet lobby macarons).

*no luck yet on the fedora front, but i think im wearing her down

an impromptu outdoor screening of one of my all time favorites - back to the future - in the circle. i cant think of a better way to spend a balmy weeknight than with a bag of nandos chicken and michael j fox / potluck breakfast and afternoon zoo outing for our office intern appreciation day. interns these days get all the perks!

this past weekend i went on another house tour (shocking). with my impending move, ive been ramping up my adventuring efforts-most of which revolve around eating and cramming in as much colonial history as possible. while cw will forever and always be my favorite, there are so many great finds right around dc. lee house, dumbarton house, hillwood, 150th civil war anniversay...my calendar is practically full already. while i dont think ill have ANY problem saying goodbye to the heat and humidity, i will miss living around so many quality mansions, battlefiels and reenacments/reenactors. the east coast definitely has california beat for historical experiences.

i caught a screening of step up to the plate at silverdocs last night, a beautifully endearing film about family and food *i've been craving foreign films lately-hoping in some small way to satisfy my seriously deprived travel bug. its my 2nd annual silverdocs screening, so im thinking im building something of a legacy here.

i met up with my fellow travel/film junkie afterwards to gush about the gorgeous cinematography and my new found inspiration to travel. come summer, i plan to be wandering around the french countryside with only a baguette and bottle of wine to my name

really digging finnish design blogs as of late. inspiration to take more/better pictures, be creative and motivate my (slow going) finnish lessons. *i forgot how incredibly frustrating it is to learn a language from scratch! my conversations with my dad pretty much start and end with "good afternoon. how are you? i am well! do you speak english? yellow!"

*hands down my favorite pic of the trip

*is it me, or did i take a disproportionately large amount of food pics while camping??

along with the bride and groom, about half of the wedding party opted to camp out in the woods for the weekend. how adventurous of us!  like a complete city slicker, i forgot to bring a sleeping bag. or bug spray. or food (aside from my road trip munchies). #campingfail. thankfully, my compadres were more seasoned campers who thought to bring things like a hatchet (!), warm clothing, bell peppers and bathing suits.

cold nights, rain and bug bites aside, we had a blast feasting on pancakes & burritos, jumping in the lake, singing along to old school rap and tom petty, spending time with the newlyweds before their big move and porch sitting with a few cold beers.

remind me to go camping more often. (and bring a sleeping bag).

the wedding. a beautiful ceremony in vermont celebrating two genuinely great people with friends and family. the low key, casual vibe and camp-out style lodging perfectly fit the couple. from the custom made wedding cocktail (potent!) to the traditional pig roast (delicious!) to the handmade table swag (from thailand!), everything just worked. a near perfect event (if not for the hoards of mosquitos that demolished my feet, legs and FACE). congrats to the happy couple!!
