and so begins The Challenge.

every night for one week allie and i are going to a new restaurant on our wall list. we specifically picked some major cross offs, those gaping holes that have been on the wall for years(!). taunting us. its time to get serious and get eating.

Day 1: Pho 14, columbia heights
reasonably priced, large portions, friendly waitstaff, clean!, tasty. i opted for the traditional crowd pleaser 'eye of round' steak while allie was feeling a bit more adventurous and threw in some meatballs. the meats were a bit bland (the meatball reminded me of something a jewish grandmother would make), but the broth was pretty delish (something about it almost reminded me of christmas?). judging by the steady flow of people, seems like this hidden neighborhood gem isnt so well hidden.
